(From the opening) Hemomont, the first pharmaceutical plant in Montenegro, member of Hemofarm and Stada Group, has officially opened a new facility for the production of sterile nasal sprays SNUP in Podgorica. The facility, in whose construction and equipping EUR 5.3 million was invested, provides jobs for 30 more workers, and the plan is for 3 million sprays to be produced each month, Hemomont says in its press release.

The new facility, which takes up 1,700 m2, will be producing SNUP for children and adults, which will be exported to 9 foreign markets.

On this occasion, the CEO of Hemomont, Snezana Perovic reminded that, in the past 24 years, the small factory for the production of basic IV solutions, had grown into a leader in the pharmaceutical industry and one of the biggest exporters in Montenegro.

– Since the founding, Hemomont has increased the number of products and the number of employees seven times. The opening of the new SNUP facility shows that Hemomont keeps growing and advancing year after year – Perovic announced.

The facility was officially opened by Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic and Ronald Seeliger, Vice President of Stada Group and CEO of Hemofarm, the majority owner of Hemomont.

Seeliger said that Hemofarm was Stada's regional center for the markets of Central and Southeast Europe and that he was in charge of 13 countries, eight of which are EU members.

– Since 2006, when it became our parent company, Stada has invested EUR 12.5 million in the modernization of the Hemomont facility. The construction of the SNUP facility will further strengthen the position of Hemomont and the pharmaceutical industry of Montenegro – Seeliger said.

In addition to Hemofarm, the state of Montenegro is also an owner of Hemomont. Its position as a leader in the pharmaceutical industry confirms that a partnership between the state and the private sector can be successful when the operations are carried out responsibly.

– This investment will enable the growth of production and revenues by around 50% in 2018 compared to a year before. It further affirms the model beneficial to both the investor and the state – Djukanovic said.

In addition to the new facility, Hemomont has also presented a new system for the treatment of waste waters, one of the first such systems in Montenegro. The EUR 500,000 system will contribute to environmental protection and increased safety of the Hemomont complex and its wider area.

Let us remind that Hemomont was founded in 1994 as the first pharmaceutical plant in Montenegro. It is owned by Hemofarm, the Government of Montenegro and the Montenegro Health Insurance Fund.

It currently employs around 200 workers, and its portfolio features 75 products sold in the local market and exported to 11 foreign markets.
