Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali opened a new, modern customs terminal in Free Zone Subotica on Thursday, July 5, 2018, which should increase the efficiency and accelerate the operations of the companies active in the zone. The construction of the new facility cost around RSD 50 million, and the works were fully financed by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Customs Administration says.

Six companies with 6,000 employees currently operate here, and over 15,000 vehicles pass through Free Zone Subotica each year. The total turnover in 2017 amounted to close to EUR 850 million.

The director of the Customs Administration, Milos Tomic, said at the opening of the new customs terminal in Free Zone that the clearance procedures would be shortened and accelerated with the moving of the terminal to the new location. According to him, the new customs terminal should shorten the delay time to 15 minutes.

Tomic also said on this occasion that, due to a considerable growth of the production volume of the companies operating in Free Zone Subotica and because of future investors, there was a need to expand the existing capacities and open a new customs terminal, as additional support to the entire economy.
