With a multimedia spectacle at the Republic Square, the reconstructed National Museum officially opened last night, June 28, 2018.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, one of many attendees at the ceremony, emphasized the importance of team work and continuity and pointed out that the opening of the National Museum was a result of this.

– This is an important step towards a future in which we will appreciate art and creativity. The National Museum is the core of our cultural tradition and a remarkable cultural monument, not just in our country, but in Europe as well – she said and emphasized that this event should provide inspiration to everyone, as museums are places where the past and the future meet.

Serbian Minister of Culture and Information Vladan Vukosavljevic announced that near future projects included the realization of the project of the Belgrade City Museum in Resavska Street and the construction of an opera and ballet building on the Republic Square. He added that the opening of the National Museum should be a symbolic beginning of a small renaissance of the cultural development of Serbia.

The National Museum, let us remind, re-opens after 15 years.

Over the next three days, admission is free, following which free entry will only be available on Sundays, whereas an individual ticket will otherwise cost RSD 300.
