New contents on Ada Ciganlija in 2009 – Development of Water Sports Center until summer
Water Sports Center should be built on Ada Ciganlija prior to the
beginning of the summer season, as well as an outdoor sports center for people
with special needs. Marking of parking places on the right bank of the Sava
lake (Makiš) should also be completed by that time, and several educational
campaigns for prevention of unwanted situations during summer months are in the
pipeline.
In order to upgrade the work of the rescue service at “Belgrade’s sea”, public
company ”Ada Ciganlija“ will sign the contract on cooperation with the National
Rescue Service of Italy next week.
- In addition to exchange of knowledge and experiences, forming of special school for rescuers and instructors, according to the highest European standards, is in the pipeline. The rescuers who complete the training, which will be carried out under the supervision of Italian colleagues, will obtain internationally acknowledged licenses. In this way, with the rescue service and the experience in maintenance of high level of security of visitors during the whole season, Ada Ciganlija can become the Instruction center for rescuers for the needs of Serbia – said Zoran Gajić, the CEO of public company “Ada Ciganlija“.
The Water Sports Center will be opened on the left bank of the Sava lake (next to the large stands) prior to summer 2009. That will be the place where the lovers of fishing, kayaking, rowing, sailing and scuba diving will be able to gather and practice.
- Construction of sports center for people with special needs is also in the pipeline. People will be able to use it for free, and it will also serve as the place where our paraolympic sportsmen will organize their preparations. Collecting of funds, in association with non-government organizations, donors and the city, is underway, and it will be followed by the commencement of realization of this project – says Gajić.
According to his words, about 320 parking places will be created on the right bank of the lake (Makiš’s side), alongside the old Obrenovac road, which will enable undisturbed functioning of the city transportation.
