Sinisa Mali assumes duty of finance minister

The members of the National Assembly of Serbia have elected Sinisa Mali as the new minister of finance, with 154 votes in favor of the appointment.

The oath taking, as reported on the official site of the government, was attended by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, as well as ministers Nebojsa Stefanovic, Rasim Ljajic, Branislav Nedimovic, Nela Kuburovic, Zoran Djordjevic, Aleksandar Antic, Slavica Djukic Dejanovic, Zlatibor Loncar and Aleksandar Vulin.

Mali, who was mayor of Belgrade until now, has succeeded Dusan Vujovic, who resigned from the position of the finance minister on May 7 for personal reasons.

After taking the oath at the National Assembly of Serbia, on Tuesday, May 29, Sinisa Mali took over the duty from Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, who had performed the duty of the minister of finance since May 16, 2018, in line with the law and procedures and in the presence of a notary, it is added.


The prime minister handed over a report of the state of the Ministry and introduced him to the organization in the field of his competence, the set goals and the future obligations.

The new minister stated on the occasion that he would continue to work on economic reforms and on maintaining financial discipline and that he would actively work on accelerating economic growth and improving the economic environment in Serbia.
