"Ekapija" at expo in Berlin - "Green Week " (Grune Woche) gathered 1,600 exhibitors from 56 countries
Green Week (Grune Woche), the 74th Trade fair of food, agriculture and horticulture, was opened today (January 16, 2009) in Berlin and it will last until January 25th.
- During this ten-day expo, 1,600 exhibitors (1,099 from Germany and 501 from other countries) will present themselves at the area of 115,000 square meters, and it is expected that about 400,000 people will visit the expo – said the Director General of the Berlin Trade Fair, Raimund Hosch, at the last night’s opening.

This year’s partner of "Green Week" is Netherlands whose slogan is “The Quality of Neighbor”. The organizers of the expo pointed out that Kyrgyzstan was going to have its premiere in 2009, that Burkina Faso returned after a long break, that Bulgaria officially participated for the 20th time and that Italy and Switzerland celebrated their 50th appearance. With 6,000 square meters of exhibition space, Russia will be the largest guest from abroad. It was also announced that Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin would visit the expo that day.

SIEPA has enabled the presentation of food from Serbia, which will be presented by companies "Interfood 60", "Art Ival", "Fideilnka", "Foodland" and "Medoprodukt", "Kirka", "Stara sokolova" and "Voćar Kopaonik".
The visitors who crave for good taste can join the cook tour of all five continents with over 100,000 specialties at this year’s expo.
The second, extremely important, segment of "Green Week" are conferences (300 of them). The most significant of them are: the First Berlin Summit of Ministers of Agriculture, the Second International Conference of Ministers of Agriculture, and the International Food and Agriculture Forum, which will be held tomorrow (January 17th, 2009). The main topics for discussion will be: the strategy for overcoming challenges of global crisis, the development of rural areas, the use of innovative solutions in the conditions of limited resources…

“Green Week” represents a platform for making of decisions at global level because it gathers more than 30 ministers of agriculture and about 1,000 experts from all branches of agriculture at one place.
According to the announcements, this year’s expo will be visited by 150 politicians from all around the world and about 5,000 representatives of media from 75 countries, including International Federation of Agricultural Journalists.
This year, "Goethe-Institut" organized the journey to Berlin and the visit to “Green Week” for 28 journalists from various countries, while the Embassy of Germany to Belgrade chose Teodora Stanković, the editor of eKapija, to represent Serbia.
