Alfa Technics to open factory worth EUR 5 million in Svilajnac in June – Jobs for 150 people

The Kragujevac-based company Alfa Technics will open a factory in Svilajnac in June. At the International Fair of Technics and Technical Achievements in Belgrade, Alfa Technics bought a production machine worth EUR 500,000 for the new facility.

Alfa Technics processes steel and manufactures products for the automotive and aircraft industry. In Svilajnac, they will employ 150 workers, and in the next three years, another 200 workers, pointed out the president of the municipality of Svilajnac, Predrag Milanovic.

He reminded that EUR 5 million had been invested in the reconstruction of the premises and in the machines.

The Svilajnac plant will open in the Free Zone in a facility of 4,000 square meters, at the entrance to Svilajnac from the Belgrade-Nis highway, which used to feature the once renowned Fabrika VIS, a producer of screws for bridge building and truck, car and tractor industry.

After shutting down, VIS was bought in 2011 by the Austrian company PORR, which intended to produce concrete rail ties there. The company adapted the facility, brought the equipment in and organized an opening ceremony, but the production never got off the ground, save for the demonstration at the official opening.

The director of Alfa Technics, Ivan Zivkovic, stated earlier that the company produced equipment for airports, hydraulic tunnels from the airport buildings to the planes and stairs for smaller planes and that their products were installed at airports throughout Europe by a foreign partner.

Zivkovic pointed out that Alfa Technics exported 90% of its products and that it only imported steel from Russia.
