In this meat packing plant in Srem, the said consortium should exclusively process beef for the Turkish market, as per the agreement between the governments of Serbia and Turkey, and according to unofficial announcements, the meat packing plant might start operating in a month.
The director of the meat packing plant Djurdjevic from Pecinci, Djordje Kuzminac, explains for Dnevnik that it is planned for IM Srem Sid to secure sufficient amounts of beef and to comply with the conditions agreed between the two governments concerning the export of 5,000 tons of this type of meat.
In the first phase, around a hundred workers will be employed, Kuzminac says and adds that he believes that they will be able to secure the necessary amounts of beef to be processed for export to Turkey, as they've begun negotiating with farmers about an increase in the production.
IM Djurdjevic Pecinci is the second biggest producer of meat in Serbia and has capacities which allow for a daily processing of 1,000 pigs, 150 young cattle and 30 tons. A year ago, another eight companies also obtained permits for the export of lamb to China.
– We are developing subcontractor relations with livestock farmers, making agreements on the buyout and everything necessary to secure the exporting – Kuzminac says.
IM Djurdjevic was the first one to obtain the state permit for the export of lamb to China a year ago, but, according to Dnevnik's source, the job remains unrealized.
– The negotiations with the Chinese partner are still in progress. We haven't been able to make good contacts with purchasers regarding the processing, that is, regarding certain requests they've made, but the talks are ongoing and we believe that the export of lamb to this country will be realized – Kuzminac said.
