NEDIMOVIC: First agreements on IPARD funds around June 10

(Branislav Nedimovic) We expect the first 15 agreements on the use of grants from the IPARD funds to be signed around June 10, Serbian Minister of Agriculture said today.

He reminded that Serbia was to get EUR 175 million in grants from the EU within the IPARD program and that the country had managed to get accredited after “eight years of torture”.

– The financial agreement with the EC was also signed on Monday and now everything is ready. If everything goes according to plan, the first 15 agreements will be signed around June 10 – Nedimovic told TV Prva.

He said that 500 applications for the procurement of tractors, mechanization and processing industry equipment had arrived and reminded that the countries in the region had only had 50 to 70 applications at the first contests.

As he says, agriculture is back in focus, irrigation systems are being built, as are anti-hail systems, and young agriculturists have been given the opportunity to start their own businesses.
