Sava will not sell its share in Gorenjska Banka to Serbian businessman Miodrag Kostic after all. It will offer the bank’s shares to its creditors Kad and the Slovenian State Holding, as Delo learns unofficially.

Considering that Kostic’s AIK Bank failed to get authorization by the regulatory bodies for the takeover of Gorenjska Banka until April 30, the Managing Board of Sava said that they couldn’t sell a 37.7% stake in Gorenjska Banka.

The company’s GM – the majority owners are the Slovenian State Holding, Kad and the York fund – required AIK Bank to get authorization from the Bank of Slovenia, the National Bank of Serbia and the European Central Bank. According to unofficial information, it got the green light in Serbia, but not in Slovenia.

The permit by the Bank of Slovenia expired in February, and according to available information, there has been no request for a new permit.

Sava’s stake in Gorenjska Banka has been estimated at EUR 289 per share, amounting to EUR 43 million.
