Danny DeVito gets his own day

The birthday of American actor, director and producer Denny DeVito will from now on be celebrated as Danny DeVito Day in New Jersey.

The City Council of Asbury Park, DeVito's home town, pronounced November 17 the Denny DeVito Day. The decision was announced as DeVito appeared at the Asbury Park Music and Film Festival.

– Danny has never forgotten where he came from – New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said.

DeVito broke through thanks to his role in the TV show Taxi, and he also acted in movies such as Twins and Batman Returns. Another prominent role of DeVito's is the one in the TV comedy series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

DeVito (73) was born in Neptune Township and raised in Asbury Park.
