Free shares of "Komercijalna banka" to the citizens?

Even tough it is highly unlikely that the value of free shares given to the citizens would reach the value of 1.000 euros, the Government of Serbia is thinking of increasing the number of companies whose shares would be divided, in order to make the amount higher. According to unofficial statements, citizens might get shares of one or two companies more besides the promised six. The Law about free shares grant supports this possibility.

According to unofficial statements, one of the companies, whose shares might be divided among the citizens is "Komercijalna banka".

In this way, along with EPS, NIS, Telekom, Galenika, JAT and Airport, citizens might become owners of Komercijalna banka shares, which would significantly increase the amount taken for the shares. The sale of Komercijalna banka would be undertaken through IPO, and 15% of the shares would be given to the citizens (and not the money from the sale).

Momentary market value of this company is around 250 million euros and it had a down fall as the effect of the world crisis, in relation to the last year when the value was three times higher. It is estimated that after stabilization of the crisis in 2010 (when these shares could be out on the market), its present value could be at least doubled.

Most of the shares of Komercijalna banka is owned by the state (42,5%), then EBRD (25%), and rest is in the hands of corporate entities, among whom are Jugobanka in bankruptcy (3,69%), Danube insurance (3,48%) etc.
