Total foreign trade of Serbia amounts to EUR 2.62 billion in January 2018

The total foreign trade of Serbia amounted to EUR 2.62 billion in January 2018, a growth by 21.6% compared to January 2017, and the import and export increased by the same amount, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia announced on March 12.

The export equaled EUR 1.14 billion, and the import amounted to EUR 1.48 billion, making the deficit EUR 336.4 million, an increase by 21.8%.

Expressed in dollars, the foreign trade amounted to 3.19 billion, a growth by 39.1%.

Goods worth 1.39 billion were exported, 39.2% more than in January 2017, whereas the import amounted to 1.8 billion, an increase by 39.1% year-over-year, which means that the deficit increased by 38.8% to USD 408.6 million.

The export-import coverage ratio stands at 77.3% and is slightly bigger than that of the same period last year, when it amounted to 77.2%.

Serbia realized a surplus in the trade with the CEFTA countries in January 2018, amounting to USD 132.4 million, with the Serbian exports amounting to 200.7 million, and the imports standing at USD 68.3 million. The export-import coverage ration is 293.9%.

Serbia exported the most to Italy (EUR 165 million) and Germany (EUR 154.1 million) and imported the most from Germany (EUR 170.3 million) and Russia (EUR 151.7 million).

The biggest surplus was realized in the trade with the countries in the neighborhood: B&H, Montenegro and Macedonia, and as for other countries, considerable surplus was realized in the trade with Italy, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Great Britain, Croatia, Slovenia and Sweden.

The biggest deficit was recorded in the trade with China and the Russian Federation.
