Italian Government to donate 6m EUR worth of equipment to medical institutions in Serbia
- Government of Italy will donate 6m EUR worth of medical equipment to health centers in Serbia - the Ambassador of Italy to Belgrade, Alesandro Merola, announced on Friday (November 21, 2008).
- Health centers will get 3.5m EUR worth of machines for dialysis , as well as 2.5m EUR worth of equipment for gynecology-obstetrics and pediatric wards - said Merola at the meeting in the Club of People's Representatives in Belgrade.
Expressing gratituted to the people and the Government of Italy, the Minister of Health of Serbia, Tomica
Milosavljević, said that the value of donation amounted to 50% of overall one-year investments in medical institutions in Serbia.
Milosavljević pointed out that the opening of 8 new dialysis centers was in the pipeline - in Senta, Kovačica, Stara Pazova, Žagubica, Petrovac,
Kuršumlija, Aranđelovac and Vrnjačka Banja.
Thanks to this donation, the health centers will obtain 355 new machines, while the newly opened centers will get 61 machines for dialysis.
Gynecology-obstetrics and pediatric wards and clinics will get mammographs, ultrasound machines, colposcopes, stationary and transportable incubators, extractors, binocular microscopes, aspirators and inhalators. This equipment will be distributed in Belgrade and in another 26 cities in Serbia.
