The German manufacturer of luxury cars BMW has announced that its net profit in 2017 was higher by 26%, reaching an all-time high of EUR 8.7 billion, mostly thanks to an increased demand for electric cars.

The Munich-based group reported on Thursday, March 8, 2018, that they had delivered 103,080 electric cars in 2017, an increase by as much as 65.6% compared to 2016. By the end of the next year, they intend to deliver half a million such cars.

The group, which also owns the brands Mini and Rolls-Royce, delivered 2.46 million vehicles last year, 4.1% more than a year before.

– We can look back on the most successful year in our corporate history and have achieved record levels for revenues and earnings for the eighth year in succession – stated Harald Krueger, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG.

Let us remind that, after the announcement made by President Aleksandar Vucic concerning the arrival of “an important company from Germany”, Serbian media speculated that the Munich-based car giant was one of the potential investors.
