CADEZ: We are negotiating about 29,000 new jobs in Serbia
Comments
(Marko Cadez) Serbia is currently negotiating with foreign companies about 54 investment projects, worth around EUR 2.5 billion, which should provide around 29,000 jobs, says the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, Marko Cadez.
Cadez mentions an investment by a high-tech company which would produce parts for electric cars in Banat and employ more than 1,000 people, whereas another project, also by a big German corporation, would create several thousand jobs in central Serbia.
He also said that he was sure than tractors would be produced in Serbia again.
– It’s a good sign that tractor producers are among the companies interested in the purchase – Cadez said.
He points out that the fact that Serbia attracted nearly EUR 2.6 billion in foreign direct investments, more than all the countries of the region combined, says a lot.
– Above all, it says that Serbia is a good place to invest in, safe and profitable, which is confirmed by last year’s investment results and the announcements of big new foreign investments – Cadez pointed out.
He also reminded that Germany’s Continental had opened its research and development center in Novi Sad and that the construction of a factory of the modern lighting Austrian company Zumtobel would be completed in Nis in mid-2018.
– In addition to Microsoft, which is expanding its activities, the American company NCR will also establish its development center in Serbia – Cadez said.
Asked about the fate of Agrokor’s companies in Serbia, Cadez said that “it has been confirmed to me that the sale of the Mercator shopping center in Belgrade has been completed”.
– Our businessmen are interested in purchasing Agrokor’s companies, from those from the sales chain to the production capacities, both in Serbia and Croatia – Cadez said.
