The facility will have between two and three thousand square meters and house the administrative offices of the company.
It will be built in the location of Beogradske Elektrane in New Belgrade, in the spot currently featuring a shed built in 1965, when the New Belgrade heating plant, a facility with a capacity of 920 MW, was also built.
The smart building will have solar panels for the production of electrical and heating energy, as well as a heat pump for the utilization of geothermal energy, which is to provide the heating. It will also feature smart lighting sensors and use filtered collected rainwater.
– We will show that a building can function independently – Petar Vasiljevic, assistant director of Beogradske Elektrane, says and adds that it is not yet known what the investment will be worth, but that the tender for the design of the building should open soon.
The facility will also feature a showroom, where each visitor will be able to see what the energy consumption is, how the energy is produced and what the total CO2 emission is.
– We want to prove that it is possible to make fully sustainable facilities that consume almost no energy and use renewable energy sources. The idea is to show that the public sector cares, but also to communicate to each citizen that they should think about energy consumption and how to make their homes energy efficient – Vasiljevic points out.
