Beginning with March 1, a new direct cargo rail line, Sava Express, is being implemented, and the train will operate the route between Slovenia and Serbia, the rail company Srbija Kargo announced.

As said, the agreement was reached at the regional meeting of the directors of cargo rail transporters held in Portoroz on February 6-7.

It is added that the Memorandum on cooperation of regional cargo rail transporters was signed on the occasion. This is an entirely new project, which will be offering reliable and regular rail connections, shorter transit periods and a higher overall quality of service, beginning with March 1.

In addition to presenting the operations and the development plans of the company, General Manager of Srbija Kargo, Dusan Garibovic, also pointed out that Sava Express would provide a better connection between EU states and Serbia and other countries in the region.

As said, the gathering was held to the end of enhancing the mutual cooperation, increasing the volume of cargo rail transport along the key corridors, economic and social cohesion, improving the quality of service to the existing and new clients and, at the same time, defining new, client-oriented products, such as Sava Express.

The Memorandum on cooperation was signed by the directors of SZ Z Cargo, HZ Cargo, Zeleznice Republike Srpske, Makedonski Zeleznicki Transport, JP ZFBIH Sarajevo, Montecargo and Srbija Kargo.

They agreed to join forces in developing new quality services, cooperating in cargo transport along the former tenth corridor, that is, the planned Alpine-Western Balkans corridor, in the states of the former Yugoslavia, and securing top-quality logistics services.

They believe that this will also have a positive reflection on the development of the region and on redirecting cargo transport from roads to railways.
