Substation Beograd 23 in Autokomanda to be completed in August 2018 – Project worth RSD 900 million

The substation Beograd 23 in Autokomanda in Belgrade, which will improve the power supply in the urban municipalities of Vozdovac and Savski Venac and provide power supply to the Belgrade Water complex, will be completed by the end of August 2018, the acting director of Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), Milorad Grcic, stated on January 31.

– This is the most important substation currently being built in Serbia. The project is worth a total of RSD 900 million, and the works realized so far are worth RSD 650 million – Grcic told the press following the tour of the construction site.

He pointed out that the substation Beograd 23 was one of the most important points in the distribution of power produced by EPS and a very important substation for the stability of power supply in the capital of Serbia.

He added that it was necessary “for connecting to the network and the supplying of the Belgrade Waterfront complex and it enables a 110-kV cable, needed for the purpose, to pass through”.

Grcic specified that the substation contained two big transformers with 40 MW each, which is important, he said, for the existing and future companies which had already filed requests for using the electrical energy in the municipalities of Savski Venac and Vozdovac.

– We’ve also built 800 square meters of space in this substation where the spare National Distirbution Dispatch Center would be located, parallel to the one in Novi Sad, so that the power supply for all consumers could be controlled at any moment – Grcic said and added that there would also be a range of accompanying services for video surveillance, thermal vision and fire control, environmental protection and access control there.

EPS points out that Beograd 23 would be a part of the energy ring which would increase the flexibility of management and maintenance of the distribution network in the wider Belgrade area.
