Implementation of Law on Electronic Document and Identification in 2018 – Adoption of bylaws soon

State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matic, announced on January 17 that four decrees for the implementation of the Law on Electronic Document, Electronic Identification and Trust Services for Electronic Transactions would be prepared by the end of January and that she expected all the bylaws to be completed in the first half of 2018.

– We will not be waiting for the legal deadline, which is 18 months, but strive to enable the implementation of this law as soon as possible, as it is the best indicator of the readiness of the state of Serbia to adopt the values that are crucial in modern business and communication and necessary for a successful digitalization of the business sector and the public administration in line with the priorities of the Government of Serbia – Matic pointed out.

She said at the presentation of the Law at the American Chamber of Commerce in Belgrade that the business sector had given a great contribution to its preparation.

Matic estimated that the implementation of the law would enable a greater use of the electronic document, that is, the reduction of paperwork in business activities and communication.

As she pointed out, the regulation of the field of electronic identification and the implementation of various levels of identification schemes will enable a more widespread usage of electronic services and electronic transactions, and the law will also enable the development of trust services: guaranteeing data credibility in electronic transactions, implementation of reliable signatures in a cloud, electronic deliveries and qualified electronic storage.
