Mercatus Textile moving entire production to Gali plant in Pirot – Around EUR 130,000 for new equipment

One of the biggest textile companies in Pirot, with the biggest number of employees at the moment, Mercatus Textile, will be operating in the Gali plant exclusively in 2018, where a part of the production has been carried out so far.

The remaining production is carried out in the premises of AHA Mura Prvi Maj, but seeing how this company was recently sold, the new owner has enabled Mercatus to keep the production lines until the end of the current year. This deadline expires in a few days, but will not have a considerable impact on the organization of the labor.

According to the director of Mercatus, Vidak Milatovic, a serious reorganization and investments in new equipment are to follow. The planned investments, he says, amount to around EUR 130,000.

The most important thing, according to him, is that the contracted jobs will not suffer and that all the obligations towards partners will be fulfilled.

– Our partners are familiar with the situation and we have received a surprising amount of support from them. The most important thing is that we have been met with understanding and that the jobs are guaranteed until further notice. I am sure that the contracts will not be reduced, regardless of the new circumstances – Milatovic says.

Additional space has been leased from Gali, but according to Milatovic, this is not enough for the production to be carried out in one shift, and the company therefore plans operations in two shifts.

Around 120 workers will be employed at Mercatus once all the equipment has been installed. Around 6,000 jackets will be produced in one shift, whereas the production of around 4,000 suits is planned for the second one, Milatovic says for Plus Online.
