Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia Aleksandar Antic said on Thursday, December 21, that he expected the decision on expanding the gas storage Banatski Dvor from 450 to 750 million cubic meters to be reached in the next few months.

– Serbia has a responsible energy policy and cannot allow itself to be subject to unforeseen circumstances, which is why several projects are ongoing, which was discussed in Moscow as well. It is of capital interest to expand the capacity of the gas storage – Antic said.

He added that he hoped that the decision on the investment in the expansion of the gas storage would be reached in the next few months, as there was full agreement with Gazprom.

During his visit to EMS, the minister explained to the press what the signing of the agreement on the possibility of reselling Russian gas meant.

Antic said that there had been talk in Moscow in the current week about the surplus gas from the Turkish Stream being collected in Bulgaria and transported to Austria and Hungary through Serbia.

– Serbia needs to use this possibility of becoming a transit country for gas if all goes according to plan – Antic said and warned that it all still depended on the international market.

He said that Srbijagas and Gazprom signed an annex to the agreement in Moscow extending the delivery of gas to Serbia by three years, until 2025 and that another point for gas delivery to Serbia was planned on the Serbian-Hungarian border, thereby, as he estimated, increasing the energy security of Serbia.
