Russia and Serbia have agreed to exclude the clause limiting the use of purchased Russian natural gas to the local market only from the interstate agreement.

The amendment was introduced to the protocol on amendments to the agreement published on the web portal providing information on state laws, the Tas agency reports. The article of the agreement according to which the natural gas delivered to Serbia as part of the interstate agreement is to be used for consumption in the Serbian market only is no longer valid, the Russian agency adds.

Gazprom previously promised to enable a free flow of gas to the European Market as a response to requests by the European Commission.

According to the terms of the agreement, Russia obliges to deliver gas to Serbia in the total amount of up to five billion cubic meters a year in the period from 2012 till 2021, it is added.
