The CEO of public company "Aerodrom
Niš", Radisav Radojković, and the Director General of company "Eymaxx
Management GmbH" from Vienna, Mihail Miler, signed the contract yesterday
(October 10, 2008) on joint financing and development of the logistic,
commercial and cargo center in the vicinity of Niš-based civil airport "Konstantin
Veliki".
The investment, which everybody expects to be the initiator of development of Niš and the whole region of southeast Serbia, is worth 61.3m EUR and the works, according to the words of Radojković, will start in spring.
The Viennese company participated in the tender together with investment fund "Chayton capital" from London, which is going to make its first investment in Serbia.
The contract was signed in the presence of the Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning of Serbia, Oliver Dulić, the Deputy Ambassador of Austria, Urlike Hartman, the Mayor of Niš, Miloš Simonović, and the representatives of Niš’s city management.
- This is our first logistic center in Serbia. We also want to develop a trade center on that space and to invest total of 100m EUR in several phases. The first phase will result in creation of 500 new jobs – Miler pointed out.
Minister Dulić said that that project would represent the beginning of rehabilitation of the south of Serbia and Niš as the regional center. He also pointed out that one job at the airport would create seven jobs in the regional economy sector.
- The entrepreneurs from Bulgaria will soon be able to come to Niš and transport their goods from that city to any place around the world or to fly from Niš to London or Vienna. But, in order for that to happen, the region must first be made stronger. The airport is not opened and closed by politics, but economic interests – Dulić pointed out.
