The plant of the Austrian company Zumtobel in Nis, in which 1,100 people are to be employed, will be completed in late May or early June 2018, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday, December 17, 2017.

– What Mercedes is in the automotive industry, Zumtobel is in the field of lighting – Vucic said during his visit to the construction site and reminded that Zumtobel had started building the 30,000-m2 facility in July 2016.

Vucic said that the Austrian company would get incentives for employments in the amount of EUR 8-9 million.

He said that Serbia needed to give incentives to investors as it had great competition in Macedonia, Bulgaria and Romania.

According to him, the construction of the German factory Leoni, at the entrance to Nis, is close to being completed and the construction of the IMI plant, which will provide 1,500 jobs, is also in progress.

– The state has helped Nis a lot and will continue to do so – Vucic said and added that Nis was becoming an industrial city again.

The value of the investment in the Zumtobel plant in Suvi Dol near Nis is around EUR 30.6 million. The Austrian producer of lighting devices and components will be employing mostly engineers, and the factory will produce its first products in May 2018.
