Serbian delegation to meet with heads of Alibaba in China

A delegation of the Republic of Serbia, headed by State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunication, Tatjana Matic, is in China on an official visit from December 3 through 6, during which a number of bilateral meetings is planned, as is a meeting with the highest representatives of the Alibaba Group.

– We will use our visit to China to also continue carrying out the technical preparation of the Memorandum on the Information Silk Road, initiated in September, when Belgrade hosted representatives of the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China – Matic announced.

She reminded that cooperation in the fields of electronic commerce, logistics and exchange of market information, “smart cities” and online tourism had been announced back then.

– The construction of a pilot zone of economic cooperation within the Information Silk Road, where each side proposes cities to be included in the zone in pairs, was agreed. On our part, we will propose Nis – Matic said.

Representatives of Serbia will take part in the fourth World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, whose topic is “Developing digital economy for openness and shared benefits – building a community of common future in cyberspace”, says the press release by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications.

A tour of the biggest distribution center of Alibaba, Xixi, in the group’s headquarters in Hangzhou, will be organized for the Serbian delegation. Modalities of cooperation and the possibility of Alibaba’s presence in the Serbian market will be discussed. The Republic of Serbia will support the Initiative for international cooperation in the field of digital economy as part of the platform “One Belt, One Road”, which will be promoted at the conference, and the delegation will also take part in the Forum “International Cooperation in the Information Silk Road”.


Meetings with representatives of Huawei, as well as other representatives of the business sector of China, are also planned.

Members of the delegation are representatives of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunication, heads of the Group for the Development of the Digital Agenda and the Department for Regulation, Analysis and Planning in the Field of Information Society, Milan Dobrijevic and Natalija Radoja, as well as Deputy Mayor of Nis Dragoslav Pavlovic.
