Paying taxes in Serbia is easier than five years ago, thanks to implementation of new technologies, but there is room for further improvement, according to a new report by the PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) and Gupta World Bank on paying taxes 2018 in the region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, which was presented today in Belgrade.

The report states that time required for execution of tax obligations in Serbia was reduced by 53 hours compared to 2013, and that number of payments was halved from 67 to 33 during the same period, mostly due to introduction and improvement of electronic filing systems tax returns and payment of taxes.

Serbia is best rated throughout the region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia for processes related to tax administration after filing tax returns. The total tax burden and contributions for Serbia is 39.7%, which is slightly below the world average of 40.5%.
