The Government of Serbia has adopted the draft law on postal services, which enables a greater degree of protection of users of these services and of the responsibility of post operators and senders.

As stated on the Government's website, the purpose and the main reasons for adopting the new law are reflected primarily in raising the quality, achieving more efficient operations of the postal network and enhancing the conditions of access to the network.

Furthermore, this regulation is supposed to lead to the development of the postal services market in line with the needs of the business sector and the citizens.

This would make universal postal services fully harmonized with the social, economic and technological environment.

The adoption of this law regulates the postal services market, achieves harmonization with the EU legislation, the legal documents of the Universal Postal Union and the demands of the World Trade Organization, it is added.
