The construction of the industrial railroad from the rail station Stig to Thermal Power Plant Kostolac B, an integral part of the first phase of the package-project of the Chinese credit arrangement, continued at the branch of TE-TO Kostolac.

The agreement on the works was signed on April 18 and came into effect on May 28. The contractor entered the site on September 20, 2017.

– The railroad from Stig to Kostolac B is around 15 kilometers long, and the length of the railroad in the power plant area is around 6.5 kilometers, so the total length of the new railroad is around 21.5 kilometers – says Nebojsa Misic, manager of the first phase of the Kostolac B project.

The plan for the construction of the industrial railroad was prepared by the Institute of Transportation CIP Belgrade, and the contractor is a group of bidders headed by Italiana Costruzioni, with a group of local bidders headed by Bauwesen Lazarevac.

The total value of the project is USD 14,057,788 (RSD 1,637,898,185), and it is financed from the loan by the Chinese Exim Bank, as part of the first phase of the package-project for Kostolac B.

According to Misic, the project will be realized based on the agreement, the technical documentation and the building permit issued by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

It will be realized as a whole, not in stages, and it entails the carrying out of the works, the delivery of the full equipment: rails, crossties, switches, signalization, as well as putting the railroad into operation.

The completion deadline period is 10 months from the possession of the site. Due to unresolved property-legal relations, the works on one section may be delayed, but not by more than four months.

– The new tracks should enable Kostolac and the Drmno surface mining cut to be connected to the state railway system and an unobstructed transportation of materials and equipment to and from the Kostolac branch of EPS. The railroad will enable the driving in of limestone, equipment and other materials needed for the operations of TE-TO Kostolac, whereas ashes, gypsum and lump coal are to be driven out – Misic stated.

One section of the industrial railroad matches the old route of the former tracks, which have been out of function since 1990. The route then reaches the Drmno mining cut, bypasses the villages of Bradarac and Drmno and enters Kostolac B.
