The Turkish car market is one of the biggest car markets in Europe, and the country is soon to get a 100%-Turkish car brand.

Around a million new cars are sold in Turkey each year, and companies such as Renault, Hyundai, Honda, Toyota and FIAT have factories in this country.

Recently, at the initiative of the president of Turkey, Erdogan, five local companies from the automotive industry and technology joined forces within the Turkish Automobile project, which should result in the first wholly domestic car brand

The first prototype bearing the mark of the newly formed brand will be presented in 2019, and the first production model should reach the sales outlets in 2021 approximately. The focus will be placed on producing electric cars, and the end goal is to establish a world-renowned car brand, as Tesla is today.

Turkey is recognized in the car industry as a big producer and supplier of car components for other companies. Moreover, the state, which has territories in two continents, is one of the biggest exporters of car parts to the European and the Middle East market.

Turkey now intends to utilize its rich experience in production of car components to produce an entirely new “Made in Turkey” car brand and this is currently one of the priority projects on the state level.
