The trial production began around 15 days ago, and around 70 workers are already operating the machines.
As Zarko Kojic, the company’s director, says for eKapija, the new factory’s capacity is 250-300 pairs of shoes a day, and once it starts operating at its full capacity, which is expected to happen in mid-2018, the number will be more than doubled.
– The plan is to produce 700 pairs of shoes by the middle of the next year and to have around 150 employees at the facility. We have invested around a million euros in the new factory so far – Kojic emphasizes and specifies that this is a brownfield investment and that around EUR 350,000 more will be invested in the machinery and the reconstruction of the part of the building they’ve bought.
The new capacities will be almost entirely meant for export, and, as Kojic says, they will be delivering upper footwear parts (around 70% of the production), as well as finished products, to their Italian partners.
Insert is already producing footwear in its factory in Ruma, where it makes 1,200 pairs a day. The factory employs 320 workers, who also make shoes for the Italian market, whereas 20% of the production is meant for the local market.
