The Hungarian MOL is open for the sale of its stake in INA, but will continue running the company as best as it can in the meantime, said Pal Kara, head consultant at MOL Group.

The Board of Directors of MOL announced in 2013 that it would either run INA based on market economy principles or sell the Hungarian stake, Kara reminds. This has not changed, and MOL remains open to negotiations, awaiting the proposition by the Croatian side.

Media also cite the head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, who said that the Russian company might take over MOL's place as a stakeholder in INA if the Croatian government needed a new strategic partner.

MOL owns slightly less than a 50% stake in INA, but has management rights in the company. Croatia is the second big shareholder, with a 44.8% stake, Wisebroker reports.
