Air Serbia is considering an establishment of the second intercontinental line, after it reinstated regular flights to New York. The head of Corporate Communications at the company, Nikola Vukomanovic, says that Air Serbia “is seriously considering expanding the destination network by another flight to a remote destination. Of course, the final decision will be reached in the upcoming period”.

This is the first time that the airline has clearly confirmed that it is considering its second intercontinental line, over a year after it launched five weekly flights between Belgrade and New York, EX-YU Aviation News reports.

In 2016, former president and CEO of Etihad Aviation, James Hogan, said that flights to Chicago and Toronto had been considered and added that the lines might be established after two to three years.

– First off, the New York route must become functional. We don't want to make a decision that would set Air Serbia back – Hogan said.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic recently said that the Government was negotiating about launching permanent flights between Belgrade and New Delhi, and Air Serbia previously mentioned the possibility of flights to the Far East, especially China.
