By 2020, a total of 1,000 new stations for electric cars will be installed in Vienna, and the project is partially financed by the citizens. The first 230 stations will be built by mid-2018.

In each of the 23 districts, 5 fast charging stations with 11 kW of power and a capacity of two electric cars will first be built. The remaining stations will be installed by 2020, says the press release by EUROCOMM.

The new system should enable a simple and quick charging adaptable by the user. An app providing information about the charging level of the vehicle, including the transferred amount and the time elapsed will also be available.

The construction of the public charging network is carried out by the energy supply company Wien Energie, which now offers individuals an opportunity to invest in the project in the form of charging coupons.
