Shell interested in searching for oil in B&H again

One of the biggest global companies, Shell, has expressed interest for re-initiating the cooperation with representatives of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the field of exploration and exploitation of oil in the country's territory, Biznisinfo reports, citing Dnevni Avaz.

The meeting between representatives of the company and the government has been scheduled for October 23 in Sarajevo. They expressed the willingness to start negotiating with the government again and to get a concession for exploration.

The information has been confirmed by Federal Minister Nermin Dzindic.

– It is true that the meeting has been scheduled and we will see what the outcome will be. They have expressed interest in returning to B&H – he said.

The company signed a memorandum of understanding in 2011, which was extended in 2013 and 2014. They suddenly withdrew from the negotiations with the government in 2015.

Dzindic confirmed that a meeting would be held at the beginning of the next week for the purpose of reaching the final decision on opening a public invitation for a professional international consultant that would negotiate with a potential oil explorer.

The minister says that the job of the international consultant is to conduct negotiations and pick the most professional company, so that an agreement most beneficial to the Federation would be signed.
