The apartment in New York's Park Avenue bought by the authorities of the former Yugoslavia in 1975 is being sold for USD 18 million. Yugoslav ambassador Jaksa Petric paid USD 100,000 in cash for the apartment in 1975.

The sale began recently, and the money from the sale of the once luxury two-floor penthouse should, according to the succession agreement, be divided among the former SFRY republics.

The apartment has six rooms and four bathrooms and was used by the former state's ambassadors in the United Nations.

The 216-m2 duplex has been empty for over 20 years, and the apartment is currently dilapidated. This explains why the agency in charge of the sale has published only two photographs, showing the balcony and the exterior of the building.

– This is a true diamond which can be turned into a real jewel at the top of one of the most exclusive buildings in Park Avenue – said Tristan Harper, a sales agent in charge of the sale of the apartment.

The New York Post reminded two months ago that, among other people, Josip Broz Tito used to stay at the apartment.
