(From the Constanta Port Day in Serbia) The flow of goods between the Port of Constanta and Serbia amounted to 5.5 million tons in 2016. In the first seven months of the current year, the flow reached 3.8 million tons, compared to 3.1 million tons in last year's corresponding period. The positive development of the flow of goods between the Port of Constanta and Serbia is a good indication of the mutual cooperation potential. In the past years, the flow has been steadily growing, and the most represented types of goods are primarily grains, then fertilizers, oil products, non-ferrous metals and scraps.

The interest in the Constanta Port Day in Serbia is also growing. On September 21, at the Belgrade Holiday Inn Hotel, a large number of representatives of companies interested in the transport of goods by river, primarily by the Danube, gathered.

The event, which was held for the eleventh time, was opened by Vladan Misic, director of the Port of Constanta in Serbia. Ambassador of Romania to Serbia Oana-Crisitna Popa talked about the cooperation between Serbia and Romania and economic potentials. The results of the Romanian port were presented by Nicolae Dan Tivilichi, General Manager of the National Company Maritime Ports Administration S.A. Constanta. The attendees were also addressed by Veljko Kovacevic, assistant to the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure.

New features were implemented this year, and the official speeches were therefore followed by an open dialogues between the attendees about the challenges of the transport of goods by river. The event ended with B2B meetings.

(Vladan Misic and Nicolae Dan Tivilichi) This year, investments by private operators have been re-initiated in Constanta, and the total amount of investments in the next five years will reach EUR 120 million. The project of enhancing the infrastructure and protecting the environment in the port, worth EUR 12.5 million, within which a self-propelled tanker will be bought, is also in progress. In the next months, another three projects will be initiated, amounting to a total of EUR 404 million: construction of the Pier III at the Port of Constanta (EUR 300 million), rehabilitation of electrical networks (EUR 68 million) and modernization of water and sewage system (EUR 36 million).
