Seven protocols on cooperation between Belgrade and Beijing signed

Mayor of Belgrade Sinisa Mali and acting mayor of Beijing, Chen Jining, signed seven agreement on cooperation between the two cities on Saturday, September 16, 2107, Beoinfo reports.

– The agreement on the cooperation between Belgrade and Beijing was signed back in 1980 and Belgrade was the first city in Europe with which Beijing had such an agreement. Two years ago, we renewed the agreement – Mali said.

The agreement on a medical waste treatment facility was signed by Beijing Medwaste Engineering Co. Ltd and Sinofarm. Beijing Caofeidian Vocational Education City Investment Co. Ltd and China Road and Bridge Corporation (Serbia) signed a letter of intent on investing in a Serbian-Chinese industrial park, whereas the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and the Film Center of Serbia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of filmmaking.

Agreements on cooperation were also signed by the National Library of China and the Belgrade City Library, as well as by the Beijing Chamber of International Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce of Belgrade, whereas memorandums of understanding were signed by the Beijing Commission of Education and the Secretariat for Education and Child protection of the City Administration of Belgrade, as well as by the Beijing Symphony Orchestra and the Belgrade Philharmonic.


Cooperation in the field of tourism was also discussed at the meeting, Mali said and reminded that the first flight on the Belgrade-Beijing route, through Prague, had taken place on Friday, September 15, 2017. According to him, in the first six months of the current year, considering that Serbia is the first country in Europe to implement a visa-free regime for citizens of China, there were 130% more tourists from China than in the corresponding period of 2016, Beoinfo reports.
