iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus arrive

Apple presented two new smartphone models, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, featuring a considerably improved camera, display and speakers, on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.

The new phones should be able to take photos with improved colors and less distortion, especially in weak light. The display will adapt to the surrounding lighting, similar to certain iPad Pro models, and the speakers will be louder and feature deeper bass.

The new iPhone 8 will have 4.7 inches, identical to its predecessor, and the starting price will be USD 699.

The starting price of iPhone 8 Plus will be USD 799, and its size will be 5.5 inches.

Apple has broken its phone-naming tradition by calling the new phones iPhone 8 instead of 7S, the tag which might have created an impression of the new models' being only slightly improved versions of iPhone 7, and not wholly new and considerably different models.

Both models feature the option of wireless charging, characteristic of numerous phones running Android.

The new phones will be made available on September 22.
