Subotica Free Zone soon to get new Customs Terminal – Government of Serbia sets aside RSD 50 million for works

The big foreign companies which operate in the Mali Bajmok Business Zone were delighted to learn that a new Customs Terminal would soon open. The Government of Serbia has set aside RSD 50 million, VAT included, for the planning and the construction of the turnkey Customs Terminal within the zone, the Subotica.com portal reports.

– Due to a considerable growth of the production of the companies operating under the regime of the Subotica Free Zone in the Mali Bajmok Business Zone, as well as future new investors, the current solution of the Customs Terminal premises has become unsuitable, for reasons of safe operations of Siemens, which rents space there, and the realization of a new Customs Terminal has therefore been initiated in cooperation with the provincial and the republic authorities – the Secretariat for Investments explains.

A little over a year passed between the initial idea and the full realization.

– By building a new Customs Terminal, the Free Zone will enhance its level of operations, step up the procedures and become an even more reliable business partner. The construction of a new Customs Terminal will also create conditions for further expansion of the Free Zone and with that the creation of new jobs – the Secretariat adds.

The companies Siemens, Continental, Swarovski, Norma Group and Ametek, which operate within the Subotica Free Zone, are constantly expanding their business, and around 15,000 trucks pass through certain customs procedures a year.
