The production hall was visited on August 30 by Mayor Nebojsa Zelenovic, Deputy Mayor Dusan Kostadinovic and the head of the Local Economic Development Department, Violeta Sestic.
In the past year, 1,290 people have been employed in Sabac, the mayor said on the occasion of the visit to the Italian company.
Zelenovic pointed out that the local administration and local companies which had taken part in initiating the production in Pasubio had proven to be efficient and professional.
– The experience of Pasubio shows that they have never managed to organize the production as fast as they did in Sabac. I am especially proud of the fact that the people who have been employed here are satisfied and that the company has chosen Sabac among all other towns in Serbia – Zelenovic said.
Massimiliano Tacconi, director of Pasubio, announced that another 100 employees would be working in the production hall by the next year.
– There are currently 62 production workers, we are planning to employ more by 2018, a hundred workers, and then 300 to 400 next year. We are putting a lot of effort into employee training, as working with leather is hard and requires a long and thorough training process in order for the people to understand what is being required of them. We need to employ as many people as soon as possible, so that they would learn and develop from the very start – Tacconi said.
Pasubio makes leather for luxury brands such as Jaguar, Porsche, Bentley and Ferrari. The workers currently employed in the production department were trained for a week in Sabac and then for three weeks in Italy. Pasubio is one of the key participants in the international leather manufacturing market. This March, they bought a hall in Misar, where the production started in June.
