Microsoft is preparing a new Windows 10 update called Autumn Creators Update, which will feature a range of new options. However, one of the longest lasting Windows accessories will be discontinued – Microsoft Paint.

Paint was first included with Windows 1.0 in 1985 and was one of the first graphics editors, used by millions of people. Initially, it was a licensed version of ZSoft Corporation's PC Paintbrush, supporting only 1-bit monochrome graphics. It was only under Windows 98 that it became capable of creating JPEG images.

The new version of Windows 10 will include Paint 3D, able to create 3D images and having nothing in common with the old Paint.

The old program, though never especially advanced, was useful for doodling and quick cut/pasting.

Microsoft has not yet confirmed that it will remove the app, but it seems that its days are definitely numbered.
