Digital register of all structures in Serbia in RGA by January 2018

By using satellite footage and modern technologies, the Republic Geodetic Authority (RGA) will make a register of all structures in Serbia, presenting them on digital maps, within six months, RGA director Borko Draskovic announced.

– Only such a system can enhance the development of the real estate market and increase the amount of business activities. We are aware that up-to-date geodetic data, quickly and easily accessible, are crucial to the development of the economy, and we are therefore entering the digital era by taking seven-mile steps – Draskovic said in his interview for Srpska Ekonomija.

Talking about the way the project of enhanced land register administration in Serbia, carried out with the support of the World Bank, contributes to a better position of Serbia on the global investment list, Draskovic emphasizes that the focus of the project is on reforming the RGA.

– We are implementing digital technologies and modern technological and business processes in the procedure of managing and registering real estate, which is followed by the implementation of an appropriate organizational and business model of the RGA. In order for the great potential of the geodetic sector to be used fully, it is necessary for the RGA, as the leader in Serbia in this field, to secure the harmonization of the data and define a more efficient delivery to the market – Draskovic says.

According to him, in terms of organization, a solution will be implemented on a national level based on market principles and cooperation with interested parties.

When asked what the adoption of the European location framework means for the RGA, Serbia and its citizens, Draskovic says that this service of the EuroGeographics organization will supplement the national activities and ensure that the national data are used throughout Europe, enabling the meeting of the needs of the current data users, as well as of the next generation users.
