At the same time, Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia Aleksandar Antic and Minister of Energy of Bulgaria Temenuzhka Petkova said on July 11 that the cooperation between the two countries was successful, especially in the energy sector, where new joint projects were being planned, reports the website of the Government of Serbia.
Joint projects currently in progress were discussed at the meeting, primarily the construction of a Bulgaria-Serbia gas interconnector, as the Memorandum of Understanding on that project was signed this year in Sofia. The two parties agreed that the construction of a gas interconnector between Bulgaria and Serbia would improve the gas supply in the entire region.
Petkova informed Antic of the development of the project of the Bulgarian gas hub, the construction of which will contribute to the diversification of gas supply and considerably develop the gas market in the region.
It was pointed out at the meeting that the construction of the Bulgarian gas hub would enable additional amounts of gas from new sources, including the potentials of the Southern Gas Corridor, the Turkish Stream, as well as the LNG terminal in the region, to be directed towards Serbia and other countries of southeast Europe.
Antic and Petkova estimated that the cooperation between the two countries was successful, that the overall relations were developing further and that there would be a large number of joint projects in the future, primarily in the field of energy.
