NEDIMOVIC: Land not to be sold to foreigners

(Branislav Nedimovic) Land will not be sold to foreigners, Minister of Agriculture Branislav Nedimovic says and adds that the issue will be solved by amendments to the Law on Agricultural Land.

The position of the Government of Serbia is entirely clear and Serbia will solve the problem of liberalization by September 1, Nedimovic said for RTS and added that the final version of the amendments to the law would be presented to the public at the beginning of the next week.

– We will limit the liberalization so as to disable foreigners from getting land easily in a certain time period. This will be tied to the place of residence when it comes to natural persons and to the register when it comes to foreign legal persons – he said.

When asked whether the time period will be five years for natural persons and seven years for legal persons, Nedimovic says that these are some of the solutions they are gravitating to, but that it will be fully clear on Monday or Tuesday.
