The citizens of the countries outside the European Union crossing the outer EU or Schengen Area border, including citizens of Serbia, B&H and Montenegro, will no longer have their passports stamped when entering Croatia. Instead, entry and exit dates will be stored electronically.

The European Parliament and the Council of the European Union have reached a political agreement on the new border rules, and it remains to define technical details before the decision on the establishment of the EES (Entry/Exit System) is adopted and comes into effect.

The collected data about the passengers entering the EU will be stored in the database for three years, and, in extraordinary cases, the period will extend to five years. The data should enable the police and other security services to detect, prevent or inspect those perpetrators of criminal or terrorist activities coming from outside the EU.

The new entry and exit control system will facilitate the detection of the citizens of third countries entering the Schengen Area and not exiting it on time, that is, within 90 days.
