(Zajecar City Administration) People of Zajecar might soon get a new employment opportunity. A German investor is interested in raising a shopping mall in Zajecar, Mayor Bosko Nicic announces in his interview for eKapija and adds that negotiations are in progress.
The town on the Timok wants new factories to open, but it would certainly benefit from other activities as well.
– It's good for production facilities to open, but it's not bad to have service activities either. What's important is for people to be paid and for the budget to benefit from those salaries. Whether the salaries are paid in a boutique within a shopping mall or in some plant, it doesn't matter – Nicic says.
In his interview for eKapija, Nicic also announces big investments in infrastructure, despite the fact that the town's debt, often mentioned in the media this summer, is estimated at as much as RSD 2.5 million according to him. The local self-government has a plan for realizing projects worth as much as RSD 1.8 billion, and the majority of the funds have been secured (the World Bank funds which couldn't be used before, state budget and town budget funds etc.), and, as our interviewee says, they intend to apply for European and state funds for the remaining amount.
The biggest investment planned for the coming period is the development of the river beds of the Crni Timok and the Beli Timok, the value of which amounts to a billion dinars.
– We received funds for the project from the World Bank several years ago, but we can't draw them down from the account due to unresolved ownership relations. In order to solve this, we need another RSD 100 million – Nicic explains and adds that the realization of the project is expected in 2017 and 2018.
The next big project is a continuation of the reconstruction of the town's streets, for which RSD 187.5 million will be set aside. This and next year, the local self-government will also be working on reconstructing the stands at the Town Stadium and the running track, for which RSD 16.8 million has been set aside.
In 2018, Zajecar will also get a modern green market and the cheese hall is also to be reconstructed. The value of these works amounts to RSD 148 million.
– Next year, we will try to purchase the land from the owner of the current bus station and develop the cheese hall so that it has two floors. The project is being prepared – Nicic says.
Money for schools, health institutions...
The town in eastern Serbia also plans to reconstruct the Ljubica Radosavljevic Nada primary school this year, with the works entailing the repair of the facility and the construction of a sidewalk and a fence and amounting to RSD 142 million. The completion of the sports hall in the Kotlujevac settlement is also planned for 2017, requiring RSD 15.6 million. The reconstruction, extension and equipping of the medical station in Kotlujevac, worth RSD 70 million, is planned for 2018. A total of RSD 100 million should be set aside for the reconstruction and repair of the Hajduk Veljko primary school building in Kotlujevac next year. In 2017, village roads will be built, for which RSD 8.5 million will be set aside.
