Kovacevic Winery is planning construction of new wine cellar in 7.000 m2 - They pour more than EUR 5 m in tourism and wine production development
Miroslav Kovacevic, owner of Kovacevic
wine house , has received today Blic entrepreneur 2016 award at the
ceremony in Belgrade. When it comes to the award which is mutually delivered by
Blic and Societe Generale bank, the
winner received EUR 20.000.
In his interview for za eKapija, Miroslav Kovacevic says preparations for new
investments have been ongoing.
- During 2017, design for new facility should be ready while construction could start next year – our collocutor says.
Famous architect Vlada Gugl is responsible for interior design and it is expected that new wine cellar will attract attention with its appearance. In Wine house Kovacevic, where people can enjoy food with top selection of wines, it is hard to geat a seat and new restaurant will enable the Kovacevic to accommodate even more visitors.
Our collocutor says that investment should total EUR 5-10 and all details will
be known when the project is ready.
Apart from this, they are planning to invest in tourism and environment, to build a camp settlement in the vineyard.
- It is lower investment whose implementation we also expect soon. The situation is the same as with the wine basin, the project should be ready by the end of 2017 and the works should start in 2018 – Kovacevic says.
The first experiences of the Kovacevic family in cultivation of vines and wine production date from the beginning of the last century. As a crown of tradition, in 2000, construction of a new winery began, which today has all conditions for top quality wines production. New winery was built in 2001, and then it was taken over by Miroslav Kovacevic, the third generation of winemakers in the family. The demand prompted them to expand their capacities, and four years ago they bought an old Irig basement, a building from 1930. They retained authenticity, but also introduced modern technologies.
From a small family wine house, the Kovacevic reached one of leading position in Serbia.
Their wines originally come from family vineyards in Irig, other parts of wine region of Fruska gora and wider Srem area. They started with 10.000 l per year and last year they produced one million. Some of their already famous bottles are Aurelius, Bermet (red and white), Rajnski rizling, Chardonnay Kovacevic, Rosetto, three kinds of Orfelin (red, rose and white), Sparkiling wine Kovacevic, etc.
They are trying, our collocutor says, to present wines to everyone, so they produce widely-available brands but also limited edition which is sold in limited quantities. Many state heads such as Vladimir Putin, Prince Charles, Angela Merkel, etc. enjoyed wines from Fruska gora slopes.- Talks on exporting to Russia and China have been ongoing – he says.
The company has almost 50 employees. Miroslav Kovacevic, a father of five, does not miss to outline that family, tradition and team work are the pillars of successful work. He says that huge part of their success is in the fact that they do not see wine house as job but as pleasure.
- It is the most important and it takes to success since one man cannot succeed on his own – owner, Miroslav Kovacevic, said.
