The American engine manufacturer Ametek opened a business campus in Subotica on June 7. A total of 500 people will be employed at the campus.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic thanked the American embassy for, as he said, constantly working on attracting new investors.

– The new factory, which has 10,000 square meters and which will employ 500 workers, is a result of precisely those efforts to attract new investors, and the Government of Serbia did not provide subsidies this time – Vucic said.

Vucic took a tour of the new facility together with the director of the factory, Dragan Nagulic, Minister of Economy Goran Knezevic, US Ambassador Kyle Scott, president of the Provincial Government, Igor Mirovic, and president of the Assembly of Vojvodina, Istvan Pastor.

Ametek, whose seat is located in Philadelphia, has an annual turnover of around USD 5 billion and around 50,000 employees globally. This is a global producer of a wide range of engines, which sells around 40% of what it produces in America, whereas the rest is exported to Asia and Europe.

According to Vucic, 5,490 people work in the Subotica Industrial Zone, the location of Ametek's new investment. He announced that 24 kilometers of the Y-junction on Corridor 10, important for attracting investors to the northern part of Vojvodina, would be completed before mid-2019.

The global producer of electric engines Dunkermotoren, which has operated as part of Ametek since 2012, opened a new production hall in the Mali Bajmok Business Zone near Subotica in February 2016. The German company produces micro-engines in the 2,500-m2 hall and exports them globally. In 2016, two new lines were put into operation – the testing center and the compressor production line.

Dunkermotoren, the City of Subotica and the Subotica Free Zone invested EUR 2 million in the expansion of the 900-m2 production facility, aiming to increase the number of workers to 165.

The Dunkermotoren factory has an annual turnover of around EUR 10 million. In addition to the new hall in which it produces compressors, the company previously bought a parcel for the purpose of further expanding its capacities in the Subotica Free Zone.
