Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Szijjarto has stated that Russia, Hungary and Serbia have reinitiated negotiations about the construction of the South Stream pipeline.

– Hungary, Russia and Serbia have reinitiated negotiations about the construction of the South Stream pipeline, but at a smaller capacity than initially considered – he said for the Hungarian agency MTI.

Szijjarto said that Hungary would soon have consultations with the European Commission and Bulgaria regarding the pipeline.

In December 2014, Russia announced that it was terminating the South Stream project due to the unconstructive position of the European Union and turned its attention to the Turkish Stream pipeline.
